US Partnership Boosts Ground Forces with Autonomous Air Defense Systems

US defense firm SNC and software company Applied Intuition have announced a strategic partnership to develop autonomous air defense systems mounted on ground vehicles, aimed at enhancing the air defense capabilities of US ground forces.

SNC CEO Fatih Ozmen said the partnership represents a fusion of Silicon Valley’s innovation speed with advanced defense expertise, enabling the rapid and effective deployment of ground-based air defense capabilities.

The collaboration will focus on integrating SNC’s Expeditionary Air Defense Systems with Applied’s autonomous vehicle software, allowing the vehicles to move and operate independently while carrying out air defense missions on the ground. Autonomy features include vehicle control, collaborative emplacement, and remote “man-on-the-loop” operations, in compliance with US Department of Defense regulations.

Applied CEO Qasar Younis noted that the partnership aims to make autonomy in ground combat operations a deployable capability today, enhancing the effectiveness of ground forces against both aerial and terrestrial threats.

The initial phase will emphasize the MAAWLR platform, which can deploy BRAWLR and other weapons systems, providing advanced solutions for ground forces while addressing localized missile defense and counter-drone challenges.

This initiative represents a significant step in integrating AI and autonomous technology into multi-domain defense systems, reinforcing the US military’s operational readiness and the capabilities of its ground forces.
