Egypt revealed the “Rad‘ 300” multiple-launch rocket system and the first batch of locally produced K9A1 howitzers, in a move aimed at strengthening military deterrence amid rising regional conflicts.
The unveiling took place during the Egypt International Defense Exhibition (EDEX 2025) in New Cairo, inaugurated by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, highlighting Cairo’s efforts to localize advanced military technologies, from heavy artillery to precision-guided munitions.
Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din Mostafa stated that these systems are part of a strategy to maintain national security deterrence and achieve strategic balance. He emphasized that these efforts send a strong message to any entity attempting to threaten Egypt’s security, underscoring the capability of local industry and technology to protect Egyptian territory.
The Rad‘ 300 system is a multi-caliber rocket launcher on a tracked chassis, capable of striking targets up to 300 km, with mobility of up to 40 km/h on paved and unpaved roads, providing operational flexibility across various terrains.
It was accompanied by the K9A1 EGY 155mm howitzer, a locally produced version of the South Korean system, now manufactured with 67% local content, with the first battalion scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2026. The system includes locally made 155mm ammunition and an automated fire control system produced by the Arab International Optronics Company.
Beyond main weaponry, the Ministry of Military Production announced progress in local armored steel production up to 30mm thickness to support tanks and armored vehicles, including the Sina 806 armored recovery vehicle and the new Saqr 105 man-portable anti-infantry launcher.
The exhibition also showcased unmanned systems and tactical drones, including TorniX-guided munitions “Jabbar” and “Voltex,” the FL350 tactical reconnaissance UAV, counter-drone systems Haras 5 and AD-3, and joint projects with Turkey such as the Hamza-1 vertical takeoff aircraft and the Scorpion unmanned ground vehicle.
Defense Minister Field Marshal Abdel Majeed Saqr highlighted during the opening ceremony that the exhibition reflects Egypt’s investment in real peace, amid rapid regional and global developments, stressing that the armed forces protect without threatening and continuously develop advanced defense capabilities.
President El-Sisi toured the exhibition halls, receiving briefings on the new systems and visiting the UAE and Jordan pavilions, with the attendance of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces General Ahmed Khalifa, and representatives of major global defense companies.
