Qatar Receives First Batch of Boxer RCT30 Vehicles, Boosting Its Advanced Combat Capabilities

KNDS has delivered the first batch of Boxer RCT30 infantry fighting vehicles to the Qatari Armed Forces, marking a significant enhancement of Doha’s ground capabilities and adding a highly advanced combat platform to its modern arsenal.

The newly received vehicles are equipped with the MK30-2/ABM cannon, capable of engaging both ground and aerial targets, providing Qatari units with greater operational flexibility across various environments.

These vehicles constitute a major addition to the heavy systems Qatar has acquired in recent years, including Leopard 2 tanks, PzH 2000 howitzers and Dingo vehicles, reinforcing the Qatari military’s position as one of the best-equipped forces in the Middle East.

According to KNDS, the Boxer RCT30 is considered one of the most advanced 8×8 armored platforms in the world, combining high mobility and strong protection offered by the BOXER chassis with the firepower of PUMA technologies. Its modular design allows for rapid reconfiguration to meet evolving mission requirements, featuring a unified driver module and interchangeable mission-specific combat modules.

The Boxer family is part of an international program aimed at producing versatile armored platforms based on mission-adaptable interchangeable modules. The program is overseen by OCCAR, the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation, while production is carried out by ARTEC GmbH, headquartered in Munich.

ARTEC is a joint venture comprising KNDS Deutschland and Rheinmetall Land Systeme from Germany, along with Rheinmetall Defence Nederland from the Netherlands, with Rheinmetall holding a 64% stake in the project.
