344 Local Companies Operating in Saudi Arabia’s Military Industries

The Governor of Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), Eng. Ahmed Al-Ohali, announced that the number of local companies operating in the military industries sector has reached 344 companies, as part of an accelerated path toward localizing defense technologies and capabilities in the Kingdom.

During his presentation of the “Military Industries Localization” success story at the 2026 Budget Forum, Al-Ohali revealed that local content has reached 40% of Saudi Arabia’s total military spending — a milestone he described as evidence of the effectiveness of empowerment and development policies implemented in recent years.

The governor noted that the authority has worked to establish a comprehensive incentives ecosystem, develop industrial supply chains, and introduce 140 new industrial capabilities, calling on investors to seize the growing opportunities in the Saudi defense market.

Al-Ohali also highlighted that spending on military industries doubled by 4% in 2024, as part of a strategic effort to enhance the independence of the defense sector and increase its contribution to the national economy.
